Activities For 2004 - 2006

The activities for 2004-2006 will focus on the 600th Anniversary Celebration of Zheng He’s Maiden Voyage due in 2005. Specific activities discussed and adopted during the AGM are as follows:

    (a) To publish a newsletter biennially;

    (b) To cooperate with STB for the setting up of a Zheng He Museum and Park;

    (c) To work together with STB to jointly organise a Cheng Ho Carnival in July 2005;

    (d) To cooperate with STB, Mr Gavin Menzies and Pico Company to hold the 1421 Exhibition in June 2005 to be held in Suntec City or the Old Parliament House;

    (e) To undertake with HuayiNet to organise a seminar on Zheng He to be held in August 2005;

    (f) To contribute toward setting up the Cheng Ho Cultural Museum to be located in the ancient site of Guan Cang in Melaka.

    (g) In connection with the 2005 celebrations, to coordinate with other Southeast Asian countries and China to undertake the following activities:

      a. To look into the possibility of staging a Hang Li Po Drama & Dance; and

      b. To look into the possibility of converting a decomissioned naval ship into a treasure ship.
